API Leisure & Lifestyle

Privacy Policy

API Leisure & Lifestyle collects information from individuals in order that we may provide the services they require. There may be instances where such information might extend to sensitive data relating to a variety of issues such as health etc. You have the right to decide what information you will provide to API, but you must be aware that the consequences of not disclosing essential information may result in API either being unable to process your request or to provide the particular service you request.

API will use or disclose your personal information only for the primary purpose for which it was collected, unless we have your consent. Your consent may be either in written form, given verbally, or implied from the manner in which you discuss details with us. Generally, however, we do not disclose your personal information outside of API unless lawfully required to do so. In order to provide members with innovative and cost saving initiatives, API might occasionally arrange for you to be supplied with product and service information. You have the right to opt out of receiving such material simply by advising API in written form, either by letter, fax or e-mail to the respective addresses shown in our brochures and the Brisbane telephone directory.

We rely on the accuracy of the data which you provide to us, and we encourage you to let us know of any changes. If you believe that the information which we hold about you is not accurate or is obsolete, we undertake to rectify matters promptly.

We will take all reasonable precautions to safeguard your personal information from unauthorised access or loss, and when it is no longer required, we ensure that it is destroyed by secure means. We do not send your personal information outside of Australia unless we have your consent, e.g. if you wish to make car rental or hotel bookings overseas.

You may request access to any of the personal information we hold about you. In most cases, simple requests will be handled promptly, but more detailed requests involving retrieval processes from archives etc may take up to 30 days and there may be a fee involved to recover our costs.

API will use Commonwealth Identifiers such as Tax File Numbers, Passport Numbers etc only for the purpose of identification or where required by law. We do not use these numbers to organise, link or retrieve any personal information about you.

We respect your right to deal with us anonymously, but such instances would most likely relate to simple enquiries of a general nature. In most cases, we will need to identify you in order to provide the service you require.

We will collect only the information necessary to do business with you, and API will not seek sensitive information as outlined in the Act unless authorised by you, and considered necessary for the particular service (e.g. health for insurances, or specific dietary or disability needs for travel).

If you have a concern regarding a breach of privacy, you should first contact the General Manager of API (Qld) at the addresses mentioned above, and if you require further adjudication, you can refer your complaint to the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner on telephone no. 1300 363 992.
